When you are shopping for a used vehicle, you will often have the option to purchase a warranty for your vehicle. A car warranty for a used vehicle is typically backed by a dealership or a car manufacturer. This warranty can cover certain vehicle components to reduce the cost of certain repairs.

What’s Included in a Warranty on a Used Car?

The details of the warranty coverage for a used vehicle will be outlined in the vehicle service contract, which will include coverage limitations and exclusions. Typically, a warranty for a used vehicle will have limited bumper-to-bumper coverage that may only last for a short period of time. A used vehicle warranty may also offer specific protection for the powertrain, since this is the part of the vehicle that is most costly to repair.

Introducing the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty

At Own a Car Fresno, customers can enjoy an exclusive courtesy warranty called EverDrive. This is a limited lifetime powertrain warranty that covers all internal lubricated components of the engine, turbocharger or supercharger, transmission, and transfer case. The EverDrive warranty also offers towing assistance coverage for up to $75 per towing occurrence.

Car Warranty Exclusions

The EverDrive warranty will not cover the cost of routine maintenance, such as oil changes or transmission service. Wearable parts that need to be replaced often, such as spark plugs, are not covered under this warranty. Cosmetic damage to visors, bumpers, and mirrors, non-lubricated engine parts, and miscellaneous components like the power steering or axle shifts are not covered. Electrical components like fuses, bulbs, and sensors are also excluded.

This warranty does not cover damage that is caused by pump failures, leaking cooling hoses, or overheating. If your car is damaged due to negligence, alterations, vandalism, road conditions, or overdue maintenance, you will need to pay for these repairs out of pocket.

Qualified Vehicles

Vehicles that are qualified for the EverDrive warranty are those that have less than 80,000 miles on the odometer and are less than seven years old at the time of purchase. Hybrid and electric vehicles are excluded from this warranty program, as are vehicles from manufacturers such as Audi, Cadillac, Jaguar, Volkswagen, BMW, MINI, Fiat, Porsche, Subaru, Land Rover, and Mercedes-Benz.

Requirements

To make a claim under this warranty program, drivers must maintain a record of work orders from a maintenance shop and ensure that all manufacturer-recommended maintenance is performed at a certified mechanic shop. Vehicles attached to this warranty must only be for personal use and be operated by registered owners.

A warranty on a used vehicle can save you from costly repairs. A program such as EverDrive offers lifetime coverage for most components of the powertrain. Explore your warranty options for a used car when you contact Own a Car Fresno.
